
Dicon Salt Limited was established in 1984. The Company was then a 60% – 40% joint venture between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (“DICON”) and its technical partners, AIMS of Brazil.

Salt, table salt or common salt is a mineral composed primarily of sodium chloride, a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of salts; salt in its natural form as a crystalline mineral is known as rock salt or halite. Salt is present in vast quantities in seawater, where it is the main mineral.



DIRECTORS PROFILE
i. LT GENERAL T.Y. DANJUMA (RTD) GCON – CHAIRMAN
General Danjuma is the Chairman, Board of Directors of Union Dicon Salt Plc. He also serves as Chairman of various companies including South Atlantic Petroleum Limited, T.Y. Holdings Limited and Comet Shipping Agency. He sits on the Board of numerous companies including May and Baker Nigeria Plc., Friesland Food WAMCO Nig. Plc. and Unit Trust Insurance Company Limited. He served in the Nigerian Army for about 2 decades retiring at the rank of Lieutenant General. He was the Chief of Army Staff between 1975 and 1979, and later became the Minister from 1999 to 2003
He attended Nigerian Military Training College, Kaduna (1960); Mons Officers Cadet School, Aldershot, United Kingdom (1960 – 1961); School of Infantry, Hythe & Warminster, United Kingdom (1962); Special Warforce Centre, Fort Bragg, USA (1963) and Army Staff College, United Kingdom (1967).
Married with five children, General Danjuma has been conferred with a number of national and international honours and titles. He was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON in 1979; Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration by University of Liberia in February, 1990; Honorary degree of Doctors of Letters, Benue State University in February 1997. He has also received National Honours from the Republic of Somalia, Benin Republic, Poland and France.
ii. COLONEL HENRY I. MGBEMENA (RTD) – DIRECTOR
Colonel Mgbemena serves as Executive Director for Production, of Union Dicon Salt Plc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons) in Chemistry. He enlisted into the Nigerian Army as a Cadet I 1979. During his service in the Army, he held various appointments such as Director of Ammo-HQ NAOCs, and Commander Division Ordinance Services (CDOS) – HQ 2nd Division, Ibadan. He retired as a Colonel.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from University Nigeria, Nsukka (obtained in 1977), and a Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in Management from the University of Calabar (2002). He has been a full member of Nigerian Institute of Management.
iii. ENGR. KAYODE M. ERIKITOLA – DIRECTOR
Engr Erikitola serves as Director, Union Dicon Salt Plc. In the past, he was a Director of the Nigerian Airport Authority. He worked in the Lagos State Civil Service and was Chief Maintenance Engineer of Murtala Mohammed Airport in 1978. He was a Director of the Nigerian Airport Authority in August 1986 from where he voluntarily retired from the Civil Service in 1990.
Engineer Erikitola attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a BSc degree in Civil Engineering in 1969. He also acquired a Master’s degree.
